As you know, when we first arrived back in Ohio, we stayed with my brother and sister-in-law for roughly 2.5 weeks while our house was getting work done. My nephew and niece are 4 and almost 2, so lots of time outside eating ice cream was done (no complaints here). Staying with them felt like a long visit for us since, at that point, it hadn’t really sunk in that we were back in Ohio for good (we’re now since moved in, but have a “to-do” list one mile long). Enter a Root Beer float bar for dessert after Mexican one evening. I knew my nephew, Henry, would love watching me set it up and then of course indulging (after dinner though, duh!). That morning, I headed to Giant Eagle (I am so happy we’re back in Ohio where this chain is!) to pick up A&W Root Beer and all of the fixings for a summertime Sunday evening. I’d be lying though if I said that the bar we set up was just for the kids. Aaron and I both love A&W Root Beer and, besides, who says adults can’t enjoy one of the best summertime treats of all time?
Setting up the root beer float bar was so easy. I literally just grabbed cans and 2-liters of A&W Root Beer from Giant Eagle and then perused the aisles for toppings that sounded delicious. Funnily enough, I also stumbled upon some root beer-flavored marshmallows that of course I couldn’t pass on.
Root Beer Float Bar Line-Up:
-A&W Root Beer
-Cherries (because is it even a dessert without a cherry on top?)
-Chocolate Syrup
-Whipped Cream
-Roasted Peanuts
-Root Beer Flavored Marshmallows
-Vanilla Ice Cream (we also had chocolate ice cream for variety!)
Of course, any toppings work, just don’t forget the fun straws and mugs for effect! All in all, the perfect way to spend a summer evening outdoors while watching kids and pups play in the yard!
