Still thinking of what to get dad for Father’s Day? Fishing dad, sports dad, bird watching dad, etc. I’ll be honest, my dad doesn’t really fit into any of these categories. My dad is the hardest worker I know and prefers the simple things in life, besides boating- I wouldn’t really say my dad has any hobbies except for sleeping. 🙂 I rarely ever see him sitting down and relaxing- he’s a roofing contractor by trade and is always fixing something, building something or trying to find the problem in something broken. The only time I ever truly see my dad relax and just breath is on the water. He loves his boat and he is perfectly relaxed and in peace on it. Fun fact: my dad can’t swim, so this is entirely ironic.
Anyway, since I can’t buy my dad a boat (I wish I had that kind of money) and he is the hardest man to shop for, I am constantly asking my mother what to buy my dad for holidays. She always has the same answer; “smell goods” aka cologne. It’s predictable and he probably knows he’s always getting it, but he likes it and wears it everyday, so it works. He also wears the same every year, in and out so this year, I decided to mix it up and broaden my dad’s horizons in the cologne department. How funny is it that while perusing Macys I found Nautica’s cologne called Life and Voyage?? Have y’all smelled these? It honestly smells fresh like water, sea salt and my dad. It went perfectly with the card I picked up for him about him being “the port in the storm.” Do you sense my boating theme? And it’s true, he is our family’s port, our lighthouse to every decision and the strongest/hard working man I know.
For those dad’s that do fit into a category, or if you simply need some last minute ideas, I shared my gift guide here and there are some really rad items on it.
