Friday’s Top Five…

…things to do this weekend with your sweetie!

Just a disclaimer (at the beginning of the post nonetheless), your sweetie can be whoever you want it to be. A friend, family member, pet (although they may not be allowed access to most places..), just yourself, or if you’re really lonely and anti- going anywhere alone, go pick up a Barbie doll and tuck her away in your purse. It doesn’t have to be a partner- just do something with someone you enjoy even if they are plastic!
Whew, glad that disclaimer is over, don’t you just hate those? With the soon-to-be Mr. Coffee Beans away, I keep finding myself saying, Oh we should do that when he returns or oh we haven’t done that in awhile… Well here I am, jotting them down in the blog world to remember for two months from now and give him hints if he’s reading.

1. Make Something

Make a meal, start an art project. Have you been wanting to try out a new recipe? Dying to stain that old table and give it a face lift? Do it. Honestly, some of the best times with the fiance have been transforming something and just talking to each other while we do it. Grab a bottle of vino or water, turn on a great Pandora station and get to it!

2. Get Fancy!

If the budget allows for it, get dressed up and go to a favorite restaurant. You don’t need a reason to celebrate, celebrate the fact that its the weekend and your with someone you enjoy spending time with! TGIF/TGIS! Fix up your hair, put on a dress and call yourself Audrey Hepburn.

3. Instead of “date night,” have a “date day”
Plan a day date. Visit the local Farmer’s Market, have brunch or even take the dog on a walk. Just get up and do something! If the weather is nice, plan to spend the day outside and if it rains, see a matinee at the local theater.

4. Be a tourist/get lost.

Wait, what? Yes, even in your own city you can be a tourist. I know there is something in every one’s town that is probably a touristy attraction area and if you’re like most living around, you probably haven’t been. Maybe there is a haunted house, a famous museum or even a landmark that the area you live in is known for. Go check it out! If you have already been, get in the car and just get lost. Play the left or right game and go for a drive, turn up the tunes and roll the windows down. Just make sure you have a GPS with you when you decide to head home.

5. Lay low like Jello

Don’t feel like going out? Don’t. Settle on the sofa with a comfy blanket and rent a movie or better yet, turn the TV off and turn on the radio. Too antsy? Play a game. We often pull Board Games down to play on the sofa and those nights are sometimes better than anything a fancy dining experience has to offer. If you’re feeling really crazy, invite some friend over and have a small game night.

I wont get to visit with the soon-to-be (boo), but I will be traveling home for my first bridal shower! I get to spend some time with great family and my lovely group of friends, which is very exciting!
