Hoizontal Stripes

I can’t remember where, but a long time ago I read that horizontal stripes make you look wider. Makes sense, I mean they do stretch horizontally afterall…duh? And after reading that article for the longest time I shyed away from anything in a store that dare represented the horizontal demons. Then one day, I saw a shirt I really liked with those little sideways lines and I thought, alright, its do or die and I tried it on. Guess what? It didn’t make me look like a hungy hungy hippo afterall, I actually liked it, so I bought is {gasp}. Now I could assemble a small army with all those stripes I own and last night, I even saw Stacy and Clinton suggest that someone on WNTW try on some of those stripes. Those risk takers! Im living on the edge people, let me tell ya.

Ignore the fact that my hair is in the same boring low bun it always is…It’s pretty much my go-to hair style when Im short on time and it may or may not be dirty. Also- I recommend using Body Glide (post here) on anything with sequin arm holes, just a tip.

Isn’t the foot picture so artsy? No, okay, I didn’t really think so either, but when the soon-to-be took these pics a week ago he especially was proud of that foot shot. “Check out this shot I got,” he said to me. You would have thought he just photographed Big Foot he was so proud. That guy is silly.

    I always was told that these types of stripes would add about 10 lbs and then I realized that they didn't know what they were talking about and I have been wearing them ever since!

    Your whole blog article made me laugh. I've been incorporating stripes into my wardrobe too. I didn't realize how few I had. This top looks great with the green pants. And I love me some WNTW!! The foot shot is very artistic 🙂

    I'd say yes to horizontals. Even though I don't think I own anything stripey, I wouldn't say no if the right top, dress caught my eye.

    I know they said for a long time that stripes make you look bigger, but I never stopped loving them. I did let them get to me and stirred away from buying more for a few years, but I still wore them.

    I'm SO excited stripes are back! I love your outfit — very cute! And I think it's adorable that your guy was proud of that shot. They really do try!

    My Rule for Purchasing Patterns: Go peice-by-peice. Don't just assume paisely is going to look good and stripes will look bad. See where the pattern lays over you in any article of clothing in any pattern.
