“This is not my perfect date outfit”

Did you ever see the episode of Sex and the City where Carrie and Berger are supposed to go on their first official date and she buys like 4 outfits? He has just left the “perfect machine message” when she spots him in the park while out with Miranda, but she isn’t in the perfect date outfit! Note: I have an odd obsession with that show, not because of the dirty deets that are discussed (although those are funny), I think its because I have great girlfriends and every time I watch it, is makes me miss them and laugh like they are sitting next to me.

Anyway, that’s how I felt about this outfit. Before fiance left, we were running errands one day and were supposed to be back before dinner (hence where I would change), but ended up going straight to dinner instead. I was disappointed because honestly, it wasn’t my perfect dinner date outfit and even worse it was shorts (and I rarely sport the shorts with these short legs!). Anyway, I told the soon-to-be of my distaste for my outfit and he said “you look cute, you don’t need to get dressed up. I like you like this, minimal makeup, casual and laid back.”

Now, I like my heels just as much as a parrot like crackers, but I had just had myself a true Carrie Bradshaw moment. My mascara was smeared, my braid a mess and my Chanel #5 had long since faded, but even though it wasn’t the perfect date outfit, I was with the perfect date.

p.s. apologies for my face being a bit chunky. I had my wisdom teeth taken out the Thursday before these were snapped (on a Sunday).

Am I the only one that likes to get dressed up for dates? Fan of SATC or hate it?

    I always try to dress up for date night! I do really like this outfit too. I think all guys prefer their wife/girlfriend more laid back, my boyfriend is that way too.

    It makes me feel better to get dressed up for dates. I just feel good about myself. This is why I get dressed up for work too; even though it's very casual where I work.

    And yes, I love SATC! It can be pretty darn vulgar, but I just love the companionship those women share. I also LOVED the first movie! That scene where Charlotte has her accident is hilarious!!! The second movie was too much of a stretch though.

    I know that episode and I love it- and actually think about that all the time! That often happens to me living in New York City, I end up on a crazy adventure (But i never look as half as cute as you!)… I’m usually in work out gear or ZERO make up on. I actually LOVE this casual look!

    Are you kidding me? Honestly – if you have short legs go for those shorts! Those actually the most flattering and will elongate your legs and same goes for long pants/jeans, capris and cropped jeans are really the ones that don't work as well for short girls. That said, as much as I love getting dressed up I prefer doing it for a night with the girls – I'm usually too active when hanging with the boys so I tend to dress down less with minimal make up to avoid crazy face time later. SATC = not my cup of tea, but your story? Super, super darn cute.

    Haha I am totally obsessed with Sex and the City! I have seen all the episodes over and over but it never gets old and I just keep watching them.
