Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins

We’re feelin’ HOT HOT HOT!

August 11, 2012

That song makes me think of the beach and a nice cold beverage. However, Im not on the beach or enjoying a beverage and I certainly am not downing ice cold bevs on Wednesday nights because lately Im sweating my backside off during Hot Yoga. Has anyone tried this?
For the last few weeks, my girlfriend and I have been dropping into a hot yoga class and let.me.tell.ya. it’s HOT. Literally, like my face melts off during the 1 hour and 20 minute class. When we first decided to go, I had the mindset “Oh this will be easy. I lift, I run, I workout consistently- what can some weird little poses possibly do to me?” And after the first class this is pretty much what I said to my girlfriend: “Wow, that was hard. I have no balance, no strength and apparently my core is non existent.”
Has this happened to any Yogi newbies?
Anyway, Im not much of a Yogi, although I have read its incredibly good for mind, body and soul…okay, that’s not why I tried it. I lie. I tried it because I read on some running blog that Yoga is good for runners. Why did I try hot you may (or may not give a who) ask? Well because without a good sweat, I feel like Im wasting my time and might as well be eating Funyuns on the sofa while watching the Food Network. So to Hot Yoga I’ve been going and surprisingly, I really enjoy it and I feel like slowly Im improving. Maybe one day Ill even try regular Yoga…but for now Ill just keep sweating my bum off so I can get Jennifer Aniston’s body before my wedding (because that’s all it takes right, some good ole’ Triangle poses and downward facing dogs to look like hottie tottie J. Aniston).
Have you tried Hades Yoga? Regular Yoga? Any pointers for a n00b like me?

yes i did do the shorts myself ๐Ÿ™‚ my bf's sister was telling us about hot yoga but it was hilarious because she was like "yeah it is fun you sweat ALOT, everybody smells, you are all crammed in this room…" and i was like which part of that sounds fun?? but i do like yoga even though it is really tough, but i think doing that would be a little much for me, good job though for sticking with it!

I did it for several months a few years ago, but the price got to me. I really love hot yoga! Even just once per week makes you feel amazing! It really helps your flexibility and you get out all those toxins!

A word to the weary- be careful what you eat the day you go & drink lots of water!

I went through a long hot yoga stage and totally loved it. It's such a great feeling of accomplishment/ exhaustion that I don't get from a regular yoga class. I haven't been in so long because of the hours and location of my local bikram studio and my schedule… someday I'll go back!!
