Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins

Work Wear Wednesday

August 1, 2012

I seriously cannot get enough mustard. Don’t get me wrong, I completely dig the neon’s of the season, but mustard is a good ole’ fall color that I cannot get enough of. Good for every season, just like a nice fitting pair of jeans, or good bottle of vino.

::Skirt Forever21, Shirt Tory Burch (similar here), Shoes Target (similar here), Jewelry Forever21, Francesca’s, Macys, Tiffany&Co.::

I wouldn’t typically wear such a short skirt to work, but because I am on the shorter side (5’2) and because I paired the skirt with flats- I think its a go. Plus, the day I wore this, it was like one-million degrees out. It’s funny, even when I feel like an egg could be fried on the palm, I still ALWAYS have a small heater turned on in my office. I can’t ever find a balance of temperature comfort. I know it drives the soon-to-be nuts but how does he think I feel?!? My arm pits are sweating, then Im freezing, then- oops back to Hades. Of course that’s not fun, I can only look forward to menopause one day……(lies).

What do you think about above the knee skirts for work.. A do under certain circumstances, or a Oh-no-you-didn’t sista?

I think it looks great for work. Had you been wearing heels, I'd say no way, but the flats make it adorable. And I'm with you, the sweat, freeze and sweat again! I know how you feel!

I've definitely worn above the knee skirts to work – so I think you can do it if you do it the right way ๐Ÿ™‚ Love it with the flats and that blouse! And my office is ALWAYS cold – it's the worst!

I wear short skirts occasionally to work and I think it's fine. As long as you stay conservative on the top and keep the shoes either flat or on the shorter side. I cannot regulate my body temperature either! I hate it when my legs are cold but my upper body is warm. There is no balance! The space heater in my office gets A LOT of use!

I definitely think the skirt is work appropriate (I may be wearing a slightly shorter one to work today – whoops!) but I guess it depends on your work environment. Girls try to wear leggings to my office and call them dress pants.

I think that's a great little work outfit paired with flats. If you were wearing heels, the skirt might seem shorter than it is — does that make sense? I'm 5'3" so I stir away from heels if my skirt is above the knee. If you get cold in the office, you could throw on a little cardigan and it would look even more work-like.

I LOVE your sparkly skirt and the mustard color really is good for all seasons. Great outfit!

You look SO pretty! All the skirts/dresses that I wear to my office are above the knee, it's all about how you wear it. Um, I have a heater under my desk too. And I also can never find the right temperature. When it's hot, I'm sweating. When it's off, I'm shivering. My coworkers all my fun of me.

Mustard is a great color. I recently bought a JCrew skirt in mustard and I love it! Above the knee is fine, I think, as long as you pair it with more conservative accessories–I know the skirts have been saving me for the commute to work this summer! And I love the flats–adorable!

My work always keeps it pretty cold though, so I have to keep a sweater on hand at all times!

Such a beautiful work outfit, the mustard shade is so gorgeous – not too bright, not too muted – just perfect! I also love mustard as a sort of neutral, it seems to go with everything doesn't it!?

I definitely think it is OK to wear a skirt this length to work. I do it and will continue to! I usually wear flats when I wear a shorter skirt to work, to keep it more on the "conservative side." And mustard? Don't get me started. One of my most favorite colors!
