Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It

November 21, 2012

I don’t know about you all, but by NYE I literally have gotten Jiggy Wit It- and I don’t just mean I’ve showcased my dancing skills, but literally my thighs, belly and everywhere else feel…well…jiggy…

Every year I tell myself I wont overindulge and then, whelp fail. You know what wasn’t a good idea? Putting a wedding in between Hanukkah, Christmas and NYE. Fail again. So this year, I’m determined to only get Jiggy Wit It on the dance floor at our wedding.

So, with that said, I was perusing around Pinterest and wasting time trying to find some great ways to not feel like an oaf around the holidays. Here is what I came up with.

#1. 3-day Military Diet (Pinned from here) You can supposedly lose up to 10lbs in 3-days.  A girl I know on Facebook lost 4 lbs. Worth it? Not sure…

#2. Dandelion Root Tea (Pinned from here). You get to eat and drink this stuff….doesn’t eating while dieting seem too good to be true? ๐Ÿ˜‰

#3. Detox Smoothies…and a million dollars to buy massive amount of produce. (Pinned from here)

I’m not a huge fan of the fad diet trends, so mostly Ill just be watching my diet, staying active and trying to resist the second slice of pie.
๏ปฟ

Will those three things work? Mmmm..I do like pie, but I need to also fit in my wedding dress! Tell me, what go to diet tips or methods do you go to when you’re trying to look your best or remain health conscience about a BIG event coming up?

Also, congrats to Lindsey for winning the Pink Berry Patch monogrammed card giveaway! Lindsey, please email me at coffeebeansandbobbypins[at]gmail[dot]com to claim your cards!

I would definitely get navy cards with a pale pink circle and and white font. I love all things monogrammed too!

Amy, first of all congrats on your wedding! I don't think I've told you that yet.
As for dieting, I only eat clean and avoid sugar and all white flour the majority of the time so that helps! If I need to drop a few pounds or avoid bloating for a special occassion, I cut down a lot on carbs, and focus on lots of water, salad, lean chicken or fish and veggies.
Best of luck, but know that you look amazing and your blog has become one of my daily reads:-)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your fam!

A juice cleanse would be a great way too detox right after the holidays. But as far as relying on one of these, I'm not sure I would. I would just be more conscious than usual about portions and avoiding too many carbs. Along with a normal work out routine, I'm sure you'll be fine! So exciting that the date is getting so close! Congrats!

I like the idea of a juice cleanse after the holidays are over, but only for the week. Otherwise, I'm like Yi-chia. I eat smaller portions and really healthyโ€ฆbut I always have a few desserts! Happy Thanksgiving!

I don't think those fad diets ever work. Before my wedding I exercised 5 days a week and watched what I ate. I think that's the healthiest way to go.

Dieting around the holidays has never worked for me. What I typically do is make sure to continue to follow my normal exercise plan, and try to make healthy choices before the holiday. It normally all balances out, and I don't feel any guilt about enjoying my meal!

    Dieting tips for the holidays…
    1. Exercise in the morning
    2. Drink water throughout the day
    3. Skip the white stuff. bread, sugar, pasta, rice, potatoes, pie and cookies
    4. Eat lean protein
    5. Eat veggies all the you want (watch out for the dips and dressings…moderation here)
    6. Wear fitted clothing (skip the sweats and spandex)
    Happy Thanksgiving!

I agree with everyone else's tips. Be sure you drink lots of water every day and be sure to not overeat. Workouts (both cardio and weights) are super important. If you're going to a party, eat a healthy meal before you go so you aren't as tempted to make bad decisions at the party. Limit your alcohol intake to 1-2 drinks.

Fad diets don't work. Keep a healthy, year long routine! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Good luck!

The dandelion root tea was on Doctor Oz the other day! I was watching one of his weight loss shows. He says it works! The guy who was the guest said that you can mix it with some coconut milk (low cal) and some ground cardamom and it makes it taste better without adding a ton of additional calories!
