Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins

How I Organize my Jewelry

October 16, 2013

When my husband and I first moved into our loft, I thought we would have extra closet space. We were moving from tiny closets back in Ohio, to oversized walk-ins and I was certain I would need to go shopping to fill them. Moving day proved differently. We actually utilized every square inch and sadly, there was no shopping spree to be had. Finding a place for my jewelry was a challenge. I didn’t want all of it out in the bedroom where you could see it (that would mean I’d have to keep it neat and tidy all of the time), but I also wanted it to be somewhat organized with some pretty bowls, trays and whatnot. You can imagine my husband’s surprise when he came home after I’d been unpacking and the top of his dresser in the walk in had transformed into my little glam area.

To be a fair wife, I let him put his cologne/deodorant and watch bowls on the top. Since this area is on his side of the closet, we often have little dance arounds while getting ready so that I can layer some jewels on. A lot of it I don’t even wear anymore, but I have the mentality that “some day.” Today, I just wanted to share with you how I organize my jewelry. Next week (if I get it organized), Ill share the rest of my closet space with you.

This little stand is actually out in the bedroom and holds the dainty necklaces.
Mild perfume obsession. My go to is the Chanel Chance, and I save that tiny little bottle for special occasions (it was purchased on our honeymoon in Capri and has a faint lemon scent that I love
My most prized possession, my wedding rings which rest on this cute little leaf dish by the bed.
Left: in the bathroom, my most worn items lay on a monogrammed Potterybarn tray. Right: this little elephant ring holder is too cute.
Where the stacking magic happens.

See what I mean? Lots of pretties, but too much pretty to keep out in the bedroom.
If you have any questions about an item, please don’t hesitate to ask.

You have so many nice pieces! I really need to organise my jewellery, I have a cork board like you have, and a jewellery tree, yet I can never find space or things when I want to wear them, haha!

I organize my jewelry in a large furniture-like jewelry box and I could never go back to not having one! I also love that it's large enough to hold my lipsticks (that's an accessory, right?) and all of my hair accessories (headbands, jeweled bobby pins, etc). Its the perfect accessory station in the morning!

I love the way you display your jewelry! I tried to make mine look pretty, but then my husband junks it up with his stuff (I have a little area in the bathroom and he puts his shaving stuff, etc. in my area sometimes). I love the mini dress for with the necklaces! Too cute!

I think I spy a necklace on your cork-board that I also own – the turquoise/silver one right in the middle. Looks like a Forever21 necklace that I bought a couple years ago! I love the little elephant ring holder, so cute 🙂
