In my opinion, the best DIYs are a. affordable b. make an impact and c. are easy. While Im not sure how big of an impact this makes, but it is both a and c- therefore a winner in my book.
As we decorate our place, Im trying to find cute little touches to make our home a home. Right now we scribble our weekly meal plan on a note on the fridge, so I thought this would be a cute way to display it for my husband who’s constantly asking “what’s for dinner” to see.
Supplies:
- Board (I used a cheap cutting board from HomeGoods)
- Chalk Paint
- Chalk
- A foam brush
- Painter’s Tape
- Tape the edges that you want off. I just did it right around the sides. I didn’t measure because I wasn’t looking for perfection, just close enough
- Paint layer of chalk paint. This will go on very thin, wait to dry and paint an additional coat. I didn’t sand my board prior, so mine needed 3 coats.
3. Peel tape off. Cover with chalk before use (not sure why they say to do this with chalk paint, but I still did).
4. Display and use
for grocery lists, to-do’s, meal planning! Voila!

Do you have a way to display your weekly menu? Do you meal plan?

We have one similar to this at home and it truly helps everyone, mostly the hubby, get a heads up on what's for dinner for the week. My FAVORITE part about this meal planning method is not having to think about it "what's for dinner" every day and allows some weekend preparation ahead of time.

We share my Google Calendar for meal plans, family events, b-days, etc. This is a great idea though! My kids are always asking me what's for dinner and practically hope on the stove to see (boys). I love the cutting board you used. You could easily hang it or prop it up on the counter. Great DIY!
