As I’ve mentioned
earlier this week, this past weekend we were home for two of our best friends’
wedding (they were marrying each other which makes things convenient). My
girlfriend Misti asked me to make a burlap banner for her candy bar considering
they go for about $30-40 on Etsy, but can actually be made for much cheaper
than that. I thought I would share the process with you in case you’re feeling
creative and want to make your very own burlap banner.

#1. Start with your
supplies, Misti wanted her banner blush, but if you’re not painting the
pendants that really cuts down on price and time!

#2. Cut the pendant to
desired size, and then trace the remaining number needed from stencil. I made 2
extra just in case something happened.

#3. Dab paint with
foam brush. I say dab because it allows the paint to fill in the nooks and
crannies- simple painting the burlap doesn’t fill in the holes and also takes
much more paint that dabbing.

#4. Allow to dry over
night. Once dry, you can begin writing. I wrote SWEET LOVE freehand, but
stencils can be used, a pencil beforehand- whatever is easier for you!

#5. Use a hole punch
to create holes for stringing. I did two holes on each pendant, but you can do
whatever you’d like.

ribbon though holes.

#7. Once all pendants
are on the string, you can adjust, slide and position as necessary. Measure
against table and decide how much excess to cut off/keep.

#8. Hang and Voila, oh
sweet love!

This burlap banner would be great
for any type of event; shower, party, etc. It’s a little time consuming, but
overall pretty easy! Overall, this project only takes a few hours, but you
should account for drying time in between painting the burlap, writing on it
and then stringing pendants/hanging.

I am sad I didn’t get
a final photo with the cake on the table, but I was busy dancing / photo-boothing,
etc!

Very cute! My bff is getting married so I'd love to do something like this at her bridal shower.

You're a great crafter, Amy! The banner is darling. The burlap triangles are pennants. A piece of jewelry hanging from a chain is a pendant.

This is such a great idea that I'm using this for a friend's Sweet 16 birthday party I'm helping to throw, only with Tiffany blue instead of pink! 🙂 Great craft idea!
