We moved into our house in April and while all the boxes
have been unpacked and put away since that week, I still feel like our house
isn’t finished (far from it). I’ve always read that a home is an ongoing
project and my husband and I have both quickly learned that it’s the truth. I
am constantly changing or rearranging things to see where the best fit for them
is. I want our home to be beautiful of course, but also welcoming and
comfortable. I want it to be a place friends feel relaxed in and also a place
where my husband feels relaxed after a long day at the hospital (and me too!). I
try to shy away from anything too girly because our home is both of ours and it’s
a compromise to figure out what goes in it (my husband has nixed many items!).

While I’ve been holding off sharing our home (the to-do list
is still a mile long), I decided I could share it today and then just update y’all
as time passes and things change. I love mixing old and new into décor and even
a little southern flare here and there (My girlfriend got me the Southern’s Handbook and after learning
pineapples in the south represent hospitality from my friend Maggie, I picked one
up antiquing with friends). I also am obsessed with Anthro and Hattan Home candles, so I would say our
house’s signature scent is anything from those retailers (also, if you haven’t checked
out Hattan Home you should, the most adorable little items!).

Here are some things I’d still like to do:
- Find
curtains (any recommendations? I love some at Pottery Barn, but can we say
$$$). - Shampoo
Carpet - Find
big comfortable chair for lounging - Replace
fireplace face and hardware - Replace
geometric pillows with leopard print pillow cases to compliment Joy WorkShoppe floral
cases. - Find a
big piece of art that my husband and I both love (and agree on) - New
coffee table?
It’s so easy to nit pick the things you don’t like about yourself,
your space or your wardrobe. I am constantly making mental checklists of what
needs to be done/changed or replaced and I often curse the dated areas of our
home. Although I know this isn’t our forever home (it’s more like our 3-5 year
home), I know I should give myself more credit and realize this is a wonderful
first home for people our age. I’m sure one day we will look back and laugh at
the labor of love it was for us.

Lastly, today, Joy WorkShoppe is giving a
reader a $20.00 shop credit to her Etsy store. She has so many color combos, patterns and choices- I love it! That’s where these floral cases
are from and I am just waiting to bite the bullet and add some leopard to the
mix! Enter below with the Rafflecopter!

Hope you enjoy the living room tour, I hope to have some other rooms shortly!

Isn't your house the cutest?!?! I'm with you though, ours will forever be a work in progress! For curtains, have you looked at world market? They have some cute ones and their prices are usually decent.

Love the way you styled your shelves! Knock knacks are so fun :). Can I ask where you found throw pillows?

Love love love your bookshelf! As far as curtains go, are you crafty with a sewing machine? Sewing your own is a great way to save money. You can make two panels for way less than what you spend on one panel. Also, you can totally customize them and make them in any print you can find at a fabric store. I just made some for my living room and it only takes about fish hours after you iron and sew your edges.
Just a thought!
