I love cheese. I love DIY. So when I found a slate cheeseboard at William’s Sonoma that I wanted, I decided to remake it for about $10.00 as opposed to paying $45.00 for one (and this one is personalized). All you need is some acrylic paint, chalk, twine (for presentation) and the slate. You can find slate at a larger home decor store, for about 6-7 dollars per square foot.
Start with clean, dry slate.
Using a piece of chalk, draw out the design you’d like. Once you’re happy with the design, simply cover over it with the paint.
Cut a square out of the black felt and use craft glue to apply the felt to the back. This protects your table from scratches from the slate.
I choose to gift this slate cheeseboard (which is different from the above photo), to
our friend for a housewarming gift. These make great platters for charcuterie boards and any appetizer board. Simply put the items on the board and chalk descriptions. Please do not dish wash or use harsh soaps (I simply clean my slate cheeseboard by wiping with water and a little bit of soap).

So fun right? I’ve made lots of these in the last few weeks and every slate cheeseboard was well received by all of my friends. Who doesn’t love a fun and functional DIY?
Have a great day, thanks for reading!

Oh my gosh this is genius!! It's so pretty and unique. I love cheese but I do not love DIY…so as much as I'd love to say I'll make once it probably won't happen. I'll pin it just in case though!!
