Today I wanted to share an easy smokey eye tutorial with y’all in a few easy steps and since Halloween is just around the corner, I thought it would fun today to take it one step further and turn it into a a little festive makeup tutorial. So in lieu of anything too scary, today I am teaming up with Neutrogena Cleansing Towelettes to provide a 1920’s flapper makeup tutorial (and also a smokey eye for everyday wear). I don’t really plan out Halloween costumes anymore since entering the “real world,” but Halloween parties are always springing up and a 1920’s flapper girl is such an easy costume to throw together. Smokey eye, Pearls, Headband, fishnets and a LBD and you’re good to go.
Note: I applied my foundation, bronzer, etc. before starting my eyes. I also always start by filling my brows in, you can see my post on that here.
Smokey Eye
1. Use a highlighter under the brow bones and wisp a light powder.
2. With a makeup brush, slightly wisp a medium brown eye shadow in the crease of your eye. This will serve as a base for the darker shadow that will come later.
3. Using a fine tip makeup brush, dab highlighter in the crease of your eye. This creates an illuminated effect.
4. Taking a blending brush, start to dab black eyeshadow over the lash in a round shape. Once the black is filled in the eyelid, use a blender brush to blend out harsh lines.
4. Next, apply black liner to top and bottom lash lines.
5. Once eye liner is applied, use a pencil brush to go back in with black eye shadow and trace along the lower lined eye lid. This creates the smokey effect on the bottom lash line as well. Blend the creases together at the outside of the eye.
Now, if you’re looking for a 1920’s look, you just need to add a few more steps.
1. Add a good false lash! This isn’t 100% necessary, but really adds a pop to the face.
2. Using a pinkish/red blush, dab the apples of the cheeks in a circular motion.
3. Finish with a bright red or dark maroon lipstick and you’re ready to party Gatsby style.
Another thing I love about being a flapper as cliche as it might be, is that I still feel glitzy and glam for the night- not caked in makeup and heavy. Of course, when the night is over, I reach for my Neutrogena Cleansing Towelettes and wipe all the makeup away. These Cleansing Towelettes are the perfect thing to always have on hand- after a long day, I hate standing at the sink and scrubbing my makeup off- but these take you from makeup to fresh in just a few wipes. Plus, at retailers like Walmart they are affordable so there is no excuse to go to bed without washing your face first (and your skin appreciates it, trust me). #NeutrogenaFaceOff #ad

Ha, I keep those wipes in my car and purse so I can wipe off before I even make it to the after party (at Waffle House.)
