Hello, hello. How was every one’s holiday weekend? Ours was busy busy, but good nonetheless. My mother in law was in town and she helped me host my first Thanksgiving, so that was fun! Aaron worked, but luckily, he was able to enjoy dinner with us on Thursday evening with some friends who were also in town. We will be eating turkey for the next two weeks (or so it seems with the amount of leftovers in my fridge), but everything else seemed to go pretty quickly, especially the OREO Cookie balls I made.
Ever since living in Ohio close to some friends of Aaron’s, OREO Cookie Balls have become a holiday/dessert staple in our house. Our friend Kim introduced us to them, and can I simply say delicious? They are so easy, and so, I wanted to share the recipe (here) today with you and also some variations of the recipe that I tried for Thanksgiving.
OFFICIAL COOKIE BALL RECIPE
-
Ingredients:
- 1 pkg (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened
- 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
- 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
-
Make it!
- MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
- SHAPE
into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate;
place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan. - CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
- REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
- Share and enjoy!
Now, although that is the official recipe, I also wanted to take this holiday to try some other variations. I visited Walmart to see what stock of cookies they had and picked up vanilla and regular. The three variations I made were:
-Regular with sheer sprinkles (it looked like snow, so pretty!)
-Golden OREOs with Chocolate Icing and cookie sprinkles
-Regular OREO cookies with Peanut butter substituted for cream cheese (yum!) and peanut toppings
All three flavors were such a hit, I can’t decide which was my favorite!
It was such a nice night spent with friends celebrating and being thankful. Tell me, what were you thankful for this holiday?

DELISH OREO Cookie Balls! My husband wasn't home at all on Thanksgiving which is such a drag. We usually have family visiting but this year it was just the kids, me, and our turkey. Thanks for sharing your various different OREO Cookie Balls! #client
