Pulling a Carrie Bradshaw


If you were to ask any of my girlfriends what my favorite show is- all of them hands down would tell you Sex and the City. I started “illegally” watching it in my parents basement on HBO way before I ever knew what half of the stuff was that they were referring to (aka the sex stuff). I loved the friendship and the fashion- I still do (ask my husband, I watch the reruns over and over and over again). Anyway, there was a period in the series when Carrie always wore a bra with backless items. Now- I was raised and have always thought, you do not show your bra, but for someone like me who is a little bigger chested and since those sticky bra things don’t work for gals like me, I decided to pull a Carrie Bradshaw with this dress and let the strap show. Why shouldn’t I wear a great dress just because it’s backless? I love this ShopRiffRaff dress because it’s fancy enough to wear with heels, or low key enough to wear with riding boots like these DSW Ralph Lauren boots. I love a good riding boot for the versatility and comfort factor and DSW never disappoints!

I wore this look on Saturday night to a friend’s blind wine tasting party- how fun! Have you ever been to one? Although Aaron and I have been to Napa and Italy and have tried some very delicious wines, we were still SO bad at trying to guess what grape and region each were! I am especially bad with whites since I don’t drink them often. It really made us want to try to enjoy our wine more instead of just drinking it (although that’s enjoyable too). It is mind boggling how much people know about wine, I highly recommend SOM on Netflix if you haven’t seen it! Mind blown how much true Master sommeliers know!

    Sometimes you just have to go for it — With this dress you couldn't really tell that your bar was a separate piece because the colors went together perfect!

    You and me both! I was raised the same and remember seeing those episodes where Carrie went through the bra showing stage and wondering "could I pull that off?" You pull it off amazingly well – that dress is divine and would be perfect dressed up or down like you said 🙂
