For Christmas, my mom always let’s us pick things we want and then she narrows the options down. I picked this dress from J,Crew, thinking it was beautiful, but not 100% sold like I was on some of the other items. She picked it of course and it ended up being one of the few things I didn’t return after the holidays. I think everyone needs a good shirt dress and a white dress and this one is both. It’s lined and lightweight, but could easily be worn in winter or spring, I know it’s going to have a home in my closet for a very long time. Speaking of gorgeous dresses, I am obsessed with this one and this one is a great summer alternative to the one Im wearing.

As for moms, my mom and dad were visiting this weekend and I got a little emotional when they left yesterday. It was the first time they’ve been to Durham since we moved and the first time they’ve seen the house we bought, meaning the first time they experienced our new life here. I had so much fun with them, but am kind of looking forward to getting back into my eating routine! We took them to many of our favorite places to eat, meaning I ate out for almost every meal and wow- what a difference that can make! Smoothies and greens for me this week for sure! 

Aaron and I also went to the circus yesterday. I hadn’t been since I was little, and he had never been, so it was a spur of the moment decision and so fun. So many talented (and strong) people and also so many adorable animals. I always feel a little bad for the animals and I go back and forth on topics like circuses, Zoos, etc. We watched Blackfish a bit ago and swore we’d never go to SeaWorld, so I know I am being wishy-washy by going to the zoo and circuses. I really love animals- so I struggle with these types of things, but I read a ton of news before going in the car, so I am hoping that they are honest in the treatment. Humpf. 

Sorry, I know Im ending on such a serious topic, I’d love to hear, what are your thoughts?

    You look gorgeous, as always. Love that dress! As for zoos, etc., I think we gain so much by having those up-close experiences with animals. The lengths they (zoos) go to for conservation and education have done amazing things for endangered animals and public knowledge. And I think the various forms of animals in entertainment are great ambassadors, too. I know a SeaWorld trainer who has been there for years, and I know how much she loves the animals in her care. Greed takes a toll sometimes, as in all things, so oversight is crucial, but I think animal experiences are great for humans and animals both. We learn to love and respect them so that we will take better care of them. (Aren't you glad you asked??) 😉
