If you’re from Ohio, Indiana and maybe Kentucky what I’m about to say to you might make sense. If you’re from anywhere else, just trust me. Frischs Big Boy is a small franchise located in my home town that as high schoolers we used to frequent often. You know, hanging out after choir concerts and cool things like that. Well, they had the most delicious Vanilla coke. Seriously. The food, not great (typically diner/fast (kind of) food), but the vanilla cokes were on point. I used to make Aaron stop in every one we saw when we would travel back home so I could get a Coke. Recently, they switched soda brands, and guess what, just like that no more Vanilla Cokes. WHHHHAT. Now Coke has a vanilla product that I drink on the regular, but it’s just not the same. But with this recipe which includes Coke (duh), I found it- hello Vanilla Diet Cokes.
Last weekend, I had picked up some Diet Coke from Sam’s Club (we drink a lot of it in our family, always diet though). It comes in 32 count which is amazing. Anyway, I love Coke’s “Share a Coke” campaign because I love seeing what will be printed on my can. Last year I found Amy and Aaron and this batch had VIP (which is always me of course) and some lovey ones like “soulmate”, etc. So naturally, I decided to make a Coke for my sweetie for when he came home so he too could enjoy the concoction I had created that Frischs had phased out (still mad at them btw).
Here is what you need:
- Diet Coke, one can per drink (or regular, you pick)
- 1-2 tsp Vanilla Syrup (I used Sugar Free)
- 2 tblsp Half and Half (I used fat free)
- Lemon Juice (optional & just a bit to taste)
- Ice
- Cherries for topping, the more the better

Gave up Frisch's after the soft drink switch. ๐ Right down the street, too. Sad. Now it is Gold Star after the ballgames and Troubs concerts. <3
