I wouldn’t really consider myself “a nature girl”, but I’m also not opposed to spending the day hiking, exploring a trail or even going for a dive to the local Turtle Hole (terrible name). I like a balance between air conditioning and the great outdoors and I actually a fan of camping, but only to a certain degree. I prefer to have an actual restroom as opposed to a bush and even when “roughing it”, I still like to have a tube of mascara handy. However, since moving to Durham, we’ve definitely been more “outdoorsy”. The areas here are just too beautiful not to explore and last week was no different. We’d been hearing about the local swim spot in Durham for awhile and decided to meet up with some friends for some R&R in the sunshine.
Usually I am the biggest planner for these types of day excursions; I make picnic lunches before hiking and make sure we have plenty of water, bug spray, etc. But last Sunday we just went. I literally grabbed 4 FlyJoy bars, a water bottle, and our new Kammok which Aaron literally got out of for only about an hour the whole day #obsessed and out the door we went. I’ve talked about FlyJoy before (here and here) and if you still haven’t tried, you must. Our friend Ian was starving so he ate one and was so impressed with the taste (my favorite is coconut). Plus, the company has such an amazing mission.
These kind of day trips are right up my alley because they involve a little nature and then a warm shower afterwards. 🙂 Maye we’ll even go back this weekend. We literally have zero plans for the holiday which NEVER happens to us. Aaron is working a 24 hours shift on Saturday which means pool time and checking items off my to-do list.
Do you have any fun plans? Thanks for reading and if you’re in the market for a great bar, make sure to check out FlyJoy.
