Patio Reveal with ATG Stores

Today I’m excited to share our updated patio with y’all! Summer may be on the brink of winding down, but I have a feeling we’ll be using this space even more as the months pass and the temperatures cool down. It’s been SO HOT in NC- my hair is sad. If you saw our kitchen post (here), you’ve read about our little “cookie cutter home” and how my goal while we’ve lived here has been to give it character and charm. Our patio is only about 12×10, but for as long as we’ve lived here, I’ve wanted to make it a place we could enjoy. For the last two years it’s been pretty uncomfortable and bland. We had some old rod iron patio furniture and a grill- that’s about it. Functional, but not really a space you wanted to spend prolonged amounts of time. Enter ATG Stores, an online home store that has great price points and even better selections. Plus, we’ve been extremely happy with all of the items we’ve received. They are durable and great quality. They have an amazing selection of not only outdoor items, but inside as well. I just got the most amazing rug from there, but more to come on that later when I show y’all our guest room.

I knew I wanted pretty neutral items that can move to our next location with us. Since Aaron only has two more years at Duke, we’re not sure yet where our next home will be, but I’m trying to find neutral/multi functional items for our house now to ensure they will work wherever we may end up. Since our deck isn’t huge, I knew a five piece patio set would be prefect for the space and not feel too cramped. Once we re-stained the deck (the most miserable day 🙂 ), we were ready for the fun part. Aaron and his friend J hung our twinkle lights and honestly, it has made the space. There is something so magical about sitting out under the lights with music on and a glass of wine in hand. With the DIY tiki torches and glass lanterns all lit, it’s so bright out there in the evenings and I love it.

Obviously our pups love it just as much as we do. Bella often loves laying under the table because it’s shaded and the adorable outdoor rug keeps the deck from getting too hot, and G well, she likes to bark at the deer in the backyard. We’ve already entertained out here a ton and as I said, I think we’ll be getting even more use out of this space once the temps cool down a bit- I can’t wait to line the railing with Jack-o-Lanterns!

In Ohio we are rarely outside in the winter/early spring because it tends to be so cold, but it’s nice to be in NC where your outside spaces truly get almost as much use as the indoor ones. One of my favorite things is putting on a big comfy sweater and curling up with a warm cup of coffee and blanket in the early mornings/late evenings.
