I was invited to participate in the #PatioVida campaign, sponsored by On The Border which was so fun because Mexican is out favorite! Thank you for supporting the brands that make CB&BP possible.

Every year when the temps warm up and Aaron and I are sitting in the house trying to decide what to do, Aaron always jokes and says “let me guess, you want to sit on a patio…” He’s right of course. Once the weather turns nice, I am a sucker for a good patio. Who doesn’t want to enjoy good music, food or drinks out in gorgeous weather? Don’t raise your hand, because I’ll think you’re crazy. 🙂 For us, casual date night always ends up at a Mexican restaurant, so when Aaron mentioned On The Border (one of his faves from home) had a patio in Cary, I was in 100%. I even wore my new dress for the occasion because it reminds me of the salsa dancing emoji! Anyone else?
Anyway, the new patio at On The Border was not only beautiful and comfortable, but hoppin! Music was up and it was crowded (but not in an annoying way), more like a “I’m glad this place isn’t dead and we’d feel awkward way”. We were quickly seated after a short wait and my eyes zeroed in on the watermelon margarita ($4 bucks too!) If there is anything I love more than patios, it’s watermelon in the summer. And this margarita is so fresh, it’s not on the menu because it is only available when watermelon is in season. Aaron wasn’t quite as cool and opted for a Corona Rita, which is a frozen margarita with a 7oz Coronita tipped in! There were so many “adds on” on the menu which is a really cool touch, and Aaron got jalapenos in his Corona Rita. The margarita menu was extensive and if I hadn’t spotted the special, I would have had a hard time choosing since there are both skinny choices and real juice choices.

After drinks came On The Border’s signature queso, Guacamole Live! and so many fresh chips followed by our meals. Everything was beautifully plated, delicious and large! I got the chicken fajitas (it’s my Mexican go-to) and Aaron ordered a meal off the new Catina menu. I definitely had enough for lunch the next day (Aaron did not because he eats a lot). 🙂
If there is an On The Border near you, I highly suggest giving the patio a try. I felt like I was living my best life! Try taking the #patiovida quiz to see what your patio loving music choices say about you!

P.S. We were sad to learn we missed the live music by one night, but it happens every Thursday, so we’ll definitely be back to enjoy (and get another watermelon marg!). I suggest visiting then and getting Guacamole Live!, it’s made table side and would be great for date night, girl’s night or even a lunch date!
