Summer Date Night and How to Wear Statement Earrings

How was everyone’s holiday? I had previously planned to go to the pool all day, but thanks to clouds in the AM, I just hung out at home and got some work done around the house. Aaron luckily got off around lunch time, so we were able to have lunch and then spend the remainder of the afternoon hanging out and spending time together. It was the perfect 4th, but it also makes going back to work for three more days very challenging. Middle of the week holidays are weird like that, aren’t they? I love a paid day off work, but I’d prefer it be on a Monday or Friday. 🙂

I wore this look out last weekend for a quick summer date with Aaron to try a new restaurant that just opened in Durham.  It was delicious and I loved pairing these gorgeous oversized earrings  with this simple black and white outfit. What is it about statement earrings that make everything so fabulous? Honestly, I think the bigger the better and if you think you can’t wear them, I promise you’re wrong. My tips for wearing them are simple: #1. Keep things neutral in terms of clothing, etc. I always love letting the earrings speak for themselves. #2. Buy these. I wear them all the time and it’s crazy they really do help.  #3. Have confidence in big statment jewelry! It’s such a showstopper and you’re bound to get so many compliments! Do you love statement jewelry or not? I’d love to know. I’m not really a big statement necklace fan because they bother me and make me feel pulled down, but earrings for some reason definitely do not, they just stay out of the way!
