If I could pick a flavor that represents my life, it would be Oreo. It is my go-to in anything: ice cream, shakes, cheesecake, etc. Aaron says I’m boring and never branch out, but why change a good thing? So the other day when I was perusing Walmart (I seriously just walk around places now with Poppy if she’s sleeping and consider this #metime, anyone else?), I stumbled upon Kraft’s new Cool Whip Oreo Mix-Ins and immediately started brainstorming what I could bake.
Who doesn’t love Cool Whip? Aaron makes fun of me because we always have some in the fridge which means an occasional plop gets put in my coffee to make it #extra. Also, did you know Cool Whip is the main ingredient in the best icing ever? You know the icing that’s a little stiffer that normal, but so creamy?
Yea, that’s because it’s made with Cool Whip and it also happens to be my husband’s favorite, so combine that with my love of Oreos and voila, Cool Whip Oreo Mix-Ins Whoopie Pies were born!
I have to admit, in the past, I have not been the best baker, but recently I’ve been practicing. I figure now that I have a child, I have to Martha Stewart myself up for bake sales, after school cookies, etc. It also means my sweet tooth fiend of a husband gets to benefit. ☺ I used this recipe for the actual pies (not the filling), but the best part in my opinion is the middle of the Whoopie Pies which is below (and so easy might I add)! Also I should say, if you’d want this recipe to be a little on the lighter side, you could just use the Cool Whip Oreo Mix-Insas the center without making the Cool Whip icing, but I always say go big or go home! Save the plain Cool Whip Oreo Mix-Ins for your morning coffee like I do!
OREO WHOOPIE PIES
Here is what you need:
For cakes:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup well-shaken buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar1 large egg
For Filling:
- 1 package Cool Whip Oreo Mix-Ins (Find some here at your local Walmart)
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 package instant pudding – You pick the flavor! I actually used Oreo which means double the Oreo goodness in this recipe!
- 1 cup milk – We used Skim because we had it on hand, but I definitely recommend whole if you’re making treats!
Directions:
- Mix pudding mixture and milk in large bowl, beat with whisk until smooth
- Stir in powdered sugar until smooth
- Fold in Cool Whip topping and mix until smooth
- Refrigerate until needed (at least 2 hours), Should be slightly stiff
Assemble your Whoopie pies and enjoy!
The Cool Whip Oreo Mix-Ins already has bits of Oreos, but to make it a little more delicious, I crumbled some up and sprinkled the crumbles on the filling before serving.
Aaron gave his star of approval and if Poppy had teeth and was eating solids, I’m sure she would have too! One recipe makes about 6-8 pies depending on how big you make them, so if you’re making them for a party, you may want to double up the recipe!
What’s your go-to flavor? If you say Oreo, we might just be besties! Have a great weekend friends!

Are you kidding? It’s not even 6 a.m. and I’m all of the sudden craving oreo and whip cream. This look so good and so are you by the way. A little babe and you already look amazing. Happy Easter!

I didn’t see the recipe for the whoopie pie either…
I have another recipe but I’d rather make the one that goes with the filling recipe.
Thank you,

What did you use to make the Cookie part

Can you share the actual whoopie pie recipe as well? This looks delicious 😋
Danielle says
That is NOT how you make Whoopie Pie filling. That is a cool whip cookie sandwich. A whoopie pie is a whoopie pie because of how it’s made. Not too mention cool whip is one of the absolute worst things you can put in your body.

We don’t have a Wal-Mart here in Bishop but the oreo vender was in vons. I ask if Oreos are made in Mexico now? She said yes it is true. I hate to give up oreo pie crusts. But i will give up cookies. Need the recipe for them.

Agree with Colleen. Where is the pie recipe?

Our stores do not carry the Cool Whip with Oreo Mix-in. You mentioned you added crushed up Oreos to your filling. Did the Oreos lose their crunch after a while when you did this? Thanks for the recipe!
