Burgers, swimsuits and s’mores. These are just a few things that come to mind when I think about summer nights. Unfortunately, sometimes the sun doesn’t shine and those summer nights turn into summer thunderstorms (one of my favorite things). During one of these storms the other day, Aaron and I were sitting on the couch and I said “I really want a s’more.” Unfortunately, there was no fire, we were in our PJs and it was almost time for bed. So s’more-less I headed upstairs, but it got me thinking the next day that there have to be so many ways to make indoor s’mores. So, after some testing, a trip to Walmart to pick up HERSHEY’S 6-pack Chocolate Bars, HONEY MAID Honey Grahams, and Jet-Puffed Marshmallows, I am bringing you the perfect indoor s’mores 3 ways!
Indoor S’mores Three Ways:
A butane torch. We have one of these lying around because we have a crème brulee kit, but you can easily pick one up from places like Walmart. You definitely have to go easy on the “torching,” but it does give you that golden crisp-ness that makes fire-roasted Jet-Puffed Marshmallows so delicious. Just layer, torch and voila – S’MORE! This is the fastest of the three for obvious reasons and great if you’re just craving one single s’more.
Broiler. This method toasts the marshmallows to a perfect golden brown, but if you’re into that burnt taste this probably isn’t the method for you. It’s also the most time consuming of the options since you have to wait for the broiler to warm up. However, once it does, it quite literally only takes a minute! Layer your HONEY MAID Honey Grahams and HERSHEY’S Chocolate Bar and then top with your Jet-Puffed Marshmallow. Pop in the oven for one minute and the result is a perfect golden-brown marshmallow and oozing chocolate.
Sterno Fuel. You can grab one of these catering fuel cans at Walmart (which is where I picked mine up). They last for a few hours, so this would be a great option if you were having an indoor girl’s night, date night in, etc. You could easily place a fun little s’mores tray out and let people toast and assemble as they please. Just as the butane torch, the marshmallows get done quickly. It’s also the most “real life” when comparing your indoor s’mores to your outdoor ones!
Verdict: I loved the broiler for the melted chocolate and oozy-gooey goodness, but Aaron disagreed. He said he likes his chocolate slightly hard still, so his favorite was the butane torch.
Regardless, when the craving kicks in, any of these three methods above are an A+ in my book. Sure, I prefer a s’more when it means I get to sit around the campfire and enjoy life, but like I said earlier, sometimes those fires just aren’t plausible. And, you know the best part besides being able to make a s’more anytime? No campfire smell in your hair the next morning. #winning
Now, I’m off to make an indoor s’more. Or five…because it doesn’t make sense to wait for the broiler to warm and only make one…right?
Have a great day friends, now pick up your faves at Walmart and get s’more’in!
