I want to start by saying that I know every.single.baby is as different as are parenting styles, but for Aaron and I, I couldn’t wait to get Penelope out of her bassinet and sleeping in her crib. We absolutely loved our bedside bassinet (you can read about it here), but I felt like I was getting no sleep since she was RIGHT there, which meant every movement, creak, etc. had me darting up out of bed to lean over and check on her. Once she was ready for her crib, I surprisingly slept so much better. Yes, I was worried, but thankfully with a great monitor (read about ours here) and our Owlet smart sock Baby Monitor, I felt confident that our girl was A-OK.
The Owlet Smart sock not only monitors oxygen levels, but also the heart rate of your baby and doesn’t notify you unless the levels go outside of your pre-set zones, which means more sleep because you can rest assure that baby is snoozing away peacefully. We’ve consistently been utilizing the Owlet smart sock since we moved Penelope in her crib at about 12 weeks and honestly, I love it. We don’t use it during nap times since I’m awake and watching the monitor, but at night it’s definitely given me peace of mind with our girl. And honestly, she doesn’t seem to mind it’s on her foot at all since she wears a footed sleeper and her little sleep sack (we love this and no longer use it with the arms).
I’m so biased, but she’s too cute.
Anyway, the Owlet smart sock is definitely a small splurge, but in my eyes, I am happy to pay any amount of money that #1. keeps Penelope safe and #2. offers this momma some restful sleep! Ahh sleep, I could actually use a nap right now! We’re definitely lucky P has been such a great sleeper, she’s been sleeping through the night since about 3.5 months, which is amazing for me! haha
I’d love to know your experience with your crib transition, I know teething is about to be upon us and I am crossing my fingers it’s not a nightmare!
Have a great one friends and thanks for reading always!

I had a pretty similar experience with the transition from bedside bassinet to crib in that I a) couldn’t wait to do it as I was definitely not sleeping well with my daughter Eleanor right beside me and b) it went really well as she’s a very solid little sleeper who was also sleeping through the night by about 2 months. I am so relieved that the transition went smoothly as it meant I was able to get a more restful sleep.
