Now that I’m a mom, I need products that pull double duty. Well actually, don’t we all mom or not? I love testing products out and trying new things, but I am very adamant on the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality when it comes to certain things. Dawn being one of them. We use this product A LOT in our house for a variety of things. Now, if you google uses for Dawn dishwashing liquid, you can seriously find SO many. For example, I’ve been told it makes GIANT bubbles for kiddos during warmer months, but since P is only 7 months, we haven’t experimented with this quite yet (next summer perhaps?). But here are a few reasons I love it and always have a bottle on hand:
10 Everyday Uses for Dawn Dishwashing Liquid
- First and foremost, their wildlife efforts. Okay, so I don’t actually clean wildlife in my own home, but for the past 40 years, Dawn has been saving animals from natural disasters including oil spills. Dawn is the only dishwashing brand trusted by wildlife experts for decades and heralded for its “tough on grease, but gentle on skin” formulation. Independent studies have proven Dawn to be the most effective dishwashing detergent for cleaning oiled animals.
- Cleaning my jewelry. No fancy cleaners used here. Water, toothbrush, Dawn. Scrub, scrub, scrub. My diamonds and nice jewelry have never looked so shiny. This is one of my favorite uses for Dawn dishwashing liquid.
- Stains in clothing. Before I ever spray anything on my clothing, I try Dawn and I’d say 9/10 I get the stain out. Sometimes it takes a little elbow grease, but it never fails.
- Stains in carpet. Just like grease on my clothing, Dawn has saved our carpet time and time again. It’s even gotten a glass of red wine out of our very beige carpet with a little water, scrubbing and blotting.
- Household Cleaner. Baseboards, walls, etc. I fill a bucket with a little Dawn and then the rest water and go to town. I love knowing it gets off grease, grime and everything in between. It’s been a lifesaver working/cleaning in the new house!
- Insect deterrent. Mix a little Dawn with water in a spray bottle and deter insects away from houseplants.
- Car Wash Cleaner: Dawn and soapy water are the best when I want to relive my glory days of high school cheerleading and wash my car in the driveway. Just always make sure to rinse well.
- Makeup Brush Cleaner. I don’t buy fancy cleaners, I just use Dawn, a scrubbing mitt (like here) and water. I don’t do this as much as I should (do you?), but they are always SO soft to use right after the clean.
- Hand soap for the dirty days. Since we’ve been painting a ton in the new house, I’ve been using this on my whole body practically. Body wash just wasn’t cutting the paint I had all over my hands/legs (I have no idea how it was all over my legs btw).
- Dog wash. We don’t use fancy shampoo in our house for the pups. Dawn is a tough on grease but gentle on feathers and fur so we just pull some double duty with it if the pups have been walking in the woods, swimming, etc. If it’s safe enough for the wildlife, we figure it’s gentle enough for our sweet pups. I love that, making it another of my favorite uses for Dawn dishwashing liquid.
This July, Dawn is celebrating 40 years helping save wildlife with a new campaign honoring the brand’s legacy.
