Did I ever tell you guys we bought our house without seeing it? YEP. We were living in NC and EVERY.SINGLE.HOUSE we loved was getting scooped up within a few days. We actually bid on a house in another area and didn’t get it and at first, we we’re heartbroken, but after finding our current home we realized it was meant to be allllll along (don’t you love it when that realization hits?). So one day, after missing out on said first house, I was still perusing Realtor.com when I saw our house and called our realtor immediately. I asked him to check it out and let us know his thoughts. A few days later, he facetimed us through it and we knew we wanted it. It’s funny the exterior of our house is very different and not what I was looking for, but I knew the inside was everything we needed for the next phase and there were some bonuses too…like Poppy’s playhouse (and I had the perfect Westminster Teak pieces to go on it).
We knew this home had been so loved from it’s previous family (who had two girls), and when we saw the playhouse outback, I immediately thought of tea parties, slumber parties, summer days and our sweet girl. I knew I wanted it to be her little sanctuary, the way a bedroom or a bathroom is to an adult. And while I’m SOOO excited to show you inside next week, today I wanted to show you our playhouse makeover of the outside because I just love it. We’ve actually been working on this playhouse makeover project since before the Holidays (yes, like 2018 holidays), but thanks to Ohio weather and a husband who works a lot of weekends, it was so spotty when we could actually get to work on it.
Playhouse Makeover:

As you can see above that before we moved in, it was painted blue and while I love what the previous owner did, I just knew we also had to spin it to our own belongings/taste, so we actually painted the outside of it to match our exterior home color and added some pizazz to the porch including our Westminster teak chair and table (which we love and will be moving to the patio soon). You guys, these pieces are made SO WELL. I honestly want a WHOLE patio of this brand, Westminster makes a greta product and it’s timeless and classic. Even after sitting in Ohio’s elements, it’s in perfect condition and I think it’s just darling on her little porch!
Long term we need to replace the front porch ply wood (and I still have paint touch ups to do, oops). I’d also love to build little window boxes on the front windows, but for now, we’re just ooddling over how much fun it’s going to be to play in it this summer. It even has electricity, so we can sit inside and watch the fireflies in the backyard! Maybe I’m romanticizing, but I just picture her and little neighborhood girls having so much fun in it.
Now to convince Aaron I need a Westminster teak set (like this one) for our patio…wish me luck. But first, you know it, COFFEE.
Happy Friday friends!

What a fun little space for your daughter!!! If I saw that on a property I would probably buy it no matter what the main house looked like 😉
