Is anyone else still in disbelief that Summer is almost over? I mean, WHHHHAT. We traveled so much this summer (I was gone about ½ the month). Which definitely got me thinking about what a great guest room needs. I recently took photos of our guest room in our home so I could share some of my favorite modern guest bedroom ideas with you. One of which is updating your duvet. We recently got a new duvet and it really helped elevate our space. But now I want a new one for our own king-sized bed. Ha ha!
Modern Guest Bedroom Ideas with Antar Home
Our guest room is rather large with it’s own en-suite bathroom. It used to actually be the master in our home once upon a time. But they expanded a bedroom into our attic space and thus, created a master bedroom. Luckily, because of this, we can fit quite a bit of furniture into our guest room. Which I think makes it a pretty cozy space for guests. I love having a room people can feel comfortable in. So I put together a list of must-haves for your guest room (bathroom post to come later).
Guest Bedroom Must-Haves
- Comfortable bedding. First and foremost, you MUST have great bedding. We recently got a new duvet from Antar Home in our guest room and it has me wanting to upgrade our king size duvet to a matching one. It’s so fluffy and soft and I absolutely love it’s that it’s Hypoallergenic and doesn’t leak – Thanks to their down proof shell, this doesn’t happen! When it arrived, I thought there was no way a comfortable queen-sized duvet could come out of the package, but I just followed the directions to let it air out (or pop it in the dryer for a bit) and then it was suddenly so lush and cool (does anyone else hate fluffing until they are blue in the face to get your duvet even?)! My mother in law commented on its quality and how the duvet is warm but not too hot (very breathable), and I love knowing we’re offering her a comfortable option away from her home while we’re away from ours.
- Nice Sheets. Aaron would much rather have a great duvet like ours from Antar-Home. But I do love a great set of sheets too. I LOVE climbing into bed with clean and fresh sheets. So before guests come, I always make sure they have something on the bed that I’d want to sleep on.
- Empty Drawers: I know this may not be the case for some rooms, but we’re lucky enough to have a dresser in our guest room. It’s nothing fancy, but I like having some extra space for more long-term guests to put things in. I keep the top four drawers open and make sure they know they are welcome to “spread out” a bit if they’d like.
- Full length mirror. This one is most likely for all the ladies. But since France I’ve been wanting a full length mirror to check out my outfit in. I purchased a decently affordable option from Home Goods and simply leaned it against the wall for anyone to enjoy (it also makes pretty home décor).
- Extra Pillows. I am a one pillow sleeper, but Aaron sleeps with 2-3. When we make the guest bed, we only use two pillows. However, I always leave 1-2 extra on top of the bed when guests are expected.
- Sometimes not all bedtimes align. So we like to have something for guests to keep themselves entertained with if the need arrives. We have a TV equipped with Netflix and other streaming services too. But if a TV isn’t available, then some recent magazines would work just fine.
