Hi friends! How was your weekend? Aaron was off, so we got a few small tasks done around the house and mostly enjoyed time outside when it wasn’t raining (which it’s been doing a ton). I won’t lie, I miss going out to places, so anytime we get to spend outdoors is like a treat. He’s off this week M-F and we are hoping to start a rather big project today or tomorrow, so wish us luck.
Today though, I’m so excited to show you our “almost” complete entry way project with Arhaus lighting and decor! You guys probably have seen on stories, but we’ve been working on this space since we moved in. I shared the staircase makeover last week (post here), but there was still so much to do to this little area. After the stairs, I painted the front door black to give it a pop and we removed the half plantation shutters flanking each side of the door (they were awkward there). We still need to get a completely new door eventually (the weather stripping is messed up on one of the windows), but the paint was a vast improvement for the time being. Additionally, the space needed some love including a new chandelier, furniture, artwork and a rug.
Here is what the entry looked like upon moving in:
Our Front Entry Reveal with Arhaus Lighting and Decor
Enter Arhaus and their impeccable pieces. I knew I wanted something flanking the front door and when I saw these Bombay nightstands, I knew they’d be perfect. I love the shape of them and their antiqued brass hardware, plus, they were the perfect size. It’s important to remember that just because something says “nightstand” doesn’t mean that’s all it’s meant to be. What matters is that the piece fits your space. Once we had the “nightstands” in, we needed to pick art and I loved these two modern pieces that gave a great contrast against the more traditional chests and my vintage rug (did you know Arhaus sells vintage one of kind rugs? I want one!). And, since our house is navy, black and neutrals, these fit in perfect. As far as styling, I selected a combination of antiques I’ve found on my adventures and some Arhaus finds like this bud vase and this glass ball (which is large and sadly no longer on their site!). Then I added an orchid (mine is real, but I’m loving this one and all of their other faux florals!). I love how these little vignettes came together and how they make the sides of the front door look so less drab and empty.
Those two little spaces made such a difference walking both in and out of the front door, but I have to say the real show stopper is the lighting from Arhaus. I’ve mentioned that our home was vacant for a while before we purchased it and in order to sell it, the bank came in and did “improvements.” This included putting the same light fixture style throughout the home and they selected the tiniest fixture for our entry. Our entry is grand, so the before light they selected honestly just seemed silly. I knew it needed a show stopper, but nothing I looked at seemed big enough. However, when I went to the Easton Towne Centre Arhaus opening a few months back, I saw these chandeliers and immediately knew they would be AMAZING juxtaposed. They’re called the “Poppy” chandelier which makes me think fate played a role since our daughters name is Poppy (aka Penelope). It’s funny, when the electrician came to install them, he made a comment that he actually thought three would be too much for the space, but immediately redacted the comment once he was finished hanging them. Also, can I note how terrified I was watching them hang them EEK. They look incredible and make such a HUGE difference to the entry. I’ve had so many neighbors compliment them when they walk by. The thing is, while they’re amazing at night (the photos do not do it justice), they are also gorgeous when not turned on. Poppy loves running into the hall every morning when I get her out of her crib because the chandeliers catch the morning light and put rainbows on the walls. “Mommy RAINBOWS” she always says. I love it. It’s truly breathtaking—it fills the entire upstairs of our home.
Still to do on this area:
- Completely new front door. I am eyeing something like this (painted black with clear glass).
- Change hardware on front door (which can be used on future new door)
- Get two runners flanking stairwell
- Runner for stairwell (I love the stairs, but toddler feet make me nervous).
- Replace floor vents, or spray paint them black.
For now though, the space is transformed thanks to Arhaus, I’m so smitten. It’s amazing what a little art, a new light and some sideboards can do to a space. Sometimes I sit on the stairs and just look at it all. I’m so happy to be home.
