Hi friends, did you make the Old Cuban cocktail from Monday’s post? I could go for one right about now, but it’s 9:43AM, so coffee it is. I have a sitter for a few hours today, so I’m attempting to pump some work stuff out (where I’ve majorly been slacking) and then start painting a few doors in our mudroom for the last week of the ORC. I’ve basically been the worst participant ever in that challenge, but regardless, I’m going to finish and do my reveal. 🙂 But first, a kitchen reveal today. Okay, not really a reveal, but a HUGE improvement to our builder grade kitchen — adding a new sink faucet and Build.com lighting. My first instinct was to pick these lights, but I’ve seen them in so many houses (and that’s okay!), I just wanted something a little different. I picked these Hinkley lights because I loved how they’re a little mix of rustic, antique and modern (y’all know I love mixing old and new). Let’s look at the space(s) before we moved in:
Our Mini Kitchen Makeover with Build.com Lighting
Over Island (had two off-centered can lights) and a yellow paint color (which has since been changed).
And the Kitchen faucet was also a rustic bronze.
Taking out the can lighting was not difficult, just time consuming. We had our electrician come and drill the three holes after measuring where we wanted them (centered since the cans were not!), once the three sockets were drilled and wired, the rest was up to us! Aaron removed the cans from the ceiling, capped off the electric and then it was time to fill the holes. We cut circular drywall patches and then patched, sanded, patched, sanded, patched, sanded. Very messy! Last up, paint and time to install the new pretties.
Voila!
Honestly, having pendants over the island instead of the can lights makes such a huge difference. Not to mention the difference our new Delta faucet made! I love this faucet y’all. It’s so sleek and totally transform the sink area, I actually don’t mind doing dishes standing here now! I had such a hard time deciding what to get on Build.com, they have SO many options, I’m already planning our Master bath mini-makeover in my head with their amazing selections.
It’s honestly like a whole new kitchen and we haven’t even started with some of the more custom projects! Just like I shared in this post so you can see the transformations of rooms, here are some things we still want to do in this space:
- add trim work to island and bolsters to make more custom looking
- paint island a dark color (ideas, help?)
- new barstools or update them somehow
- new cabinet and drawer pulls
- add trim work to end caps of cabinetry
- add crown molding to ceiling throughout
Until then, Build.com to the rescue which totally made this builder-grade kitchen a little more special. Check out their 4th sale right now, I’ll be snagging some items!
Thanks to Build.com for supplying the faucet and pendant lighting for this project! Now, round #2 of coffee!
Have you used Build.com lighting before? Let me know in a comment below!
