Hey, hey. Did some of you get access to the Nordstrom Sale today? Keep checking if your items are sold out, you can view my picks here. I get a lot of questions about paint colors in our home and while we still have some rooms to paint, I thought I’d share where we are so far with the traditional paint colors we’ve chosen.
I named our style Traditional Modern, but I still don’t even think that’s 100% accurate. I get asked what my style is a lot and to be honest, it’s just me! I like to mix everything, so if there is a catch phrase with that that you know of, please let me know!
Modern Traditional Paint Colors
Benjamin Moore White Dove: Our trim and kitchen cabinets are Extra White by SW (below), so when we painted the main areas of our house I knew I wanted white, but something that was softer and a little milky so there would still be contrast between the trim and walls. The color is kind of creamy and depending on what color your furniture is, it will either pick up the gray or creamy undertones. You can see this color in our kitchen and living room featuring the colors by clicking those links.
Benjamin Moore Cloud White: Our pantry shelves are Cloud White. It’s VERY similar to White Dove but I’d say slightly more “white.” It’s currently only in our pantry, but I plan to paint our exterior this color if our HOA approves it next summer. It’s really pretty and I <sometimes> wish I would have selected this color for our interior. I go back and forth.
Benjamin Moore Simply White: This is what I used in Penelope’s bathroom on the walls. It’s slightly more yellow-white than I wish, but for now it’s staying. Overall, it’s a cool white with a little yellow undertone.
Sherwin Williams Extra White: Simply White: A true bright white, this is the color of our interior trim, kitchen cabinets and island and mudroom bench.
Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist: We used Balboa Mist in our last home’s main rooms and I loved it so much I used it again here in the playroom, bedroom and formal living room (no pictures yet). It’s a great griege color that can appear beige or gray depending on your light, furniture, etc. I absolutely love it.
Benjamin Moore Nightfall: Another of my favorites, Nightfall was what we used in our last bedroom. It’s currently in Aaron’s office (haven’t pictured yet) but it’s a great deep navy that almost borders black. If you’re looking for a great deep dark color, this is it.
Benjamin Moore Jack Pine: The vanity color I choose for Penelope’s bathroom that many of you asked about. It’s a great green-cyan color and really rich.
Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black: This is the black in our home on the banister project, front door and garage door. I also plan to use this deep black on our island makeover and the outer trim on our home. Simply black.
Lots of whites, but I like to keep it similar and still diversify. As I mentioned above, we still have a few rooms to paint, so I’ll continue to update this list as I continue to paint, haha No painting for now though, but definitely on the docket for today, coffee.
