Happy December friends…I mean, what?! This year, so many ups and downs, the days seemed to creep by, but the year has flown by- how is that even possible? Since we’re all in full force holiday shopping, I wanted to keep the gift guides coming. Since it’s been a crazy year, you may be thinking about opting for something bigger as opposed to a bunch of small items. To me, big ticket gifts sometimes are better for long term play and also better at keeping the kiddos occupied since smaller gifts lose their novelty quickly (in some cases). Also, if you have multiple kiddos, then the big ticket items make great group or family gifts! I still plan to share smaller gift guides, but wanted to start with this one today before you budget out for the holiday season! Here are some things I think are worth the money this holiday season!
Big Ticket Kid Gifts
Fisher Price “Pelaton” – Okay, if you’re having a hard time getting your steps in because of your toddler, this little bike has amazing reviews! My parents are actually gifting P this for her birthday+Christmas combo gift and I’m so excited for it. She’ll be able to “Pelaton” with me while I’m trying to exercise during baby’s nap-time (when I’m cleared of course!).
Playhouse: Even though we’re currently building one, they make so many pre-built now-a-days. These would supply endless amount of fun throughout the year on warmer days.
Playset: We recently got the Atlantis version from Backyard Discovery and haven’t regretted it for a second. P loves it and any day it’s decently nice out, we’re playing on it. They have SO many options and different varieties of sets, we love the size of this one and plan to add a baby swing in place of one of the other swings when baby has some head control. It’s such a nice thing to have in your backyard so just run out and play on for a bit to expend some energy. P absolutely adores it and we can’t recommend the quality or the instructions (there is an app) enough! I have a feeling we’ll be out there a lot on warmer winter days this season! It’s definitely a big ticket item, but you’ll also get years out of it for fun!
Wooden Climber: This is a great indoor alternative for your little ones to the playset.
Power Car: I always wanted one of these when I was younger and never got one…ugh! Haha, maybe next year this will be on the docket for Penelope, I just think they’re hilarious and worth hours of fun!
Play Kitchen: Boys or girls love playing pretend in play kitchens. We made the mistake of getting a not so great one for P her first Christmas and to be honest, it has not held up well. We’re planning to gift her a nicer one this holiday season that will be quality and last for years throughout kiddos and lots of make believe play/fun@
Bounce House: We don’t have one of these, but our friends do and keep it in their basement. It provides hours of fun and they can easily be transported outside for warmer months. If you get one, make sure it has a built in pump!
Hopefully that gives you some ideas! If I’m missing anything, let me know and I’d be happy to add it to the list. Of course, there are always gaming consoles, etc. but I wanted to keep this more active play! Electronics will definitely be added in some of the other gift guides for kiddos! But ipads and Amazon Fire Tablets are always a good idea too! We love our firepad for P because all of the controls we can set! Additionally, we love subscriptions to places like the Zoo, Conservatory, etc. as a big ticket item.
Don’t forget, you can view all of my gift guides by heading to the menu bar “Holiday Gift Guides” and selecting what category you’re shopping for.
Now, I need to finish shopping (online) and start wrapping. But coffee of course!
What big ticket gift are you buying this year? Let me know in a comment below!

Poppy needs a Bitty Baby from American Girl. In a few more years, she’ll need American Girl dolls, but for now she can practice being a big sister with the greatest. dolls. ever.
