Happy Friday friends, twice in one week…crazy, right?! Life has been completely crazy with our newest arrival, and this is the first week I’ve felt like I have it SOMEWHAT back together (and by somewhat I mean like 40%, haha). I actually worked out twice AND managed to somehow post twice here. And while I’m itching for a new project to get back into somewhat of a normal mindset, I have a feeling projects might need to wait awhile. However, right before Shepard was born, we finished up our guest bathroom makeover–a small project I’d been wanting to tackle for a while.
Guest Bathroom Makeover
Here is what the room looked like when we bought the house:
Right after we moved in, we switched the light fixture, removed the 90’s towel bar and painted the room blue, but it still felt blah. Since I’m all about the progress shot, here is what the guest bath looked like for months…
It’s not a big bathroom, so I asked Aaron if he’d be willing to tackle a little weekend project of bead-board and then one thing lead to the next and I was completely redecorating (but that’s the fun part) nine months pregnant. OOPS We removed the old medicine cabinet in the wall (I hated it and dry wall work is the worst), added the beadboard and molding and of course switched out all the hardware/fixtures (light fixture, faucet & door hardware). Instead of removing the mirror completely (because it would entail more drywall work), we opted to use a Mirrormate frame which was so easy to install and looks great.
Since this is the guest bathroom, I made sure all of the guest essentials are there (room spray, lotion, Q-tips, soap, towels, etc.). Under the sink we have more essentials for guests (like more TP, blow dryer, etc.). And because I like a little greenery in every room, I added this houseplant in a fun little vintage planter I picked up along with some other vintage finds (milkglass and old candle holder I’ve repurposed).
Overall, the project cost a few hundred dollars, but the impact is huge. I love this space now and feel like it’s so much more welcoming for guests. Eventually, we’d still like to switch out the tile flooring, but like many of the tile projects in the house, that’s WAY down the road and low priority for now. Now, who wants to come visit and use this space?
Don’t forget, you can view more decor and DIY room makeovers here.
Hope y’all have a great weekend and stay warm. I can’t believe what’s been going on in Texas and my heart goes out to those affected. I hope regardless of where you are you stay warm and safe and I hope somehow the coffee is hot.
