I am back, this time I promise. I have so much to share with you guys. Life updates, kid updates, house updates, etc. I really lost my way there for a bit with everything and was having a hard time finding the creativity and motivation to be here and show up, but here I am and I’m thankful for it! More on all that serious stuff later, but today, let’s just have fun with my office revamp, shall we?
Office Revamp
If you guys follow me on stories, you know that Aaron works from home a lot doing Virtual Health consultations for many different hospitals, so by default he gets the main office in the house. In our last home (you can see more of here), my office was a little spot in the dinning room, but this go around since we have five bedrooms, I called dibs on one for my office. It’s actually a pretty small room, so it would make pretty tiny bedroom, but for an office space it’s perfect. Now that both the room and bathroom have had their “glow-ups,” (more to come on bathroom next week!) I feel like it’s legit (which means I need to get back to work!).
It’s funny, both of the offices in our house are painted dark (I used our old Master bedroom Master bedroom color in Aaron’s office), so when I decided I wanted to go dark in my office, too, I knew I needed to brainstorm a different color. I settled on Dark Night by Sherwin Williams, it’s kind of a deep green/teal/navy mix, but very pretty. During the evenings, it almost reads black, but on bright sunny days (I have a big window in here), you can see it’s true color shine through. I knew I loved it with the floral rug the moment I slapped some on the walls (I painted this room while pregnant, that’s how BEHIND I am!!!).
I already had some pieces of furniture (all linked below), but needed a new and more comfortable chair and this one from Safavieh was perfect (y’all know I have SO much of their stuff in my house). I also scooped up a new desk and this adorable end table (that I’m using as a plant stand– and LOVE) from Safavieh. I have LOTS of plants in my office because while I have a hard time keeping them alive, I love greenery in a home. Actually, I have only killed like two plants in our new house which I am thrilled about, I think it’s all the natural light. BUT, if you DON’T have a ton of light, it’s okay! There are so many great faux options these days and I bet in the photos you can’t even tell which are real vs. fake (it’s about 50/50).
Other than plants, great furniture and a now comfortable chair I can’t complain about, I filled the room with family photos (still need to add Shepard, ah), pops of color and work stuff. In the two nightstands I use as cabinets, I have all of my PR packages, work stuff, camera stuff and more. I keep myself organized for deadlines on the acrylic wall calendar Aaron got my for Christmas (our family calendar is downstairs in our mudroom). The closet in the room is used to store our luggage, duffel bags and travel pouches (it’s pretty empty which is always a win in the closet world for me). Then, the other door you see by the sketches is the bathroom door.
Long term, I’d still love to add some built in bookcases and get hardwood flooring (along with the rest of the upstairs), but for now, I’m perfectly content in this space that is totally mine.
If you see anything missing from links, feel free to let me know. I am happy to link as much as I can for y’all! Now, speaking of working, I should probably do some! But first, coffee!
P.S. Our home’s paint colors are here
