Hi friends! I hope you’ve been well. I’m excited to jump back into CB&BP by teaming up with Babbleboxx and sharing some easy tips to helping your back to school mornings run smoothly. I’m sure by now your kiddos are back to school and the momentum is great, but remember like 2-3 weeks in when getting up and out the door turns into a chore? Well, hopefully with these quick five tips, it makes things a little less “painful” if you will. 🙂
1. Pre Lay Out Clothing and Bathroom Essentials: The night before school lay out jammies, toothbrushes/paste (with toothpaste pre put for little ones) and vitamin gummies. Then, when the school morning hits, they can get going on their own. Penelope has been very picky about her gummies (she says so many taste weird), but she absolutely LOVES these Vitamin Friends – Kids Multivitamins. She takes one morning multi gummy and then one focus gummy (improves focus, memory and so much more). They’re also vegan! You can use the code Babble15 for a discount on their site!
2. Let kiddos pack or help pack their own lunch: This is something I learned this summer with P’s summer camp, and it helped drastically in how much she ate. Let kiddos help or even pack their own lunch with assistance. I was packing lunch, P wasn’t eating any of it. <sigh> so when she started helping, (with guidance), she picked all the things she wanted to eat. She loves these little Core Foods Core Keto Brownie Bites (so do Aaron and I!). They come in Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Brownie and Double Chocolate Chip Brownie and they give her that little taste of sweetness that she “needs,” all while being vegan, low calories and delicious.
3. Pick Your Battles: Poppy loves clothing. She also loves picking out her own clothing. I resisted for the longest time, but then learned to see it as a form of self expression. We recently picked her up these Girl Scouts x Western Chief rain boots (which are adorably decorated with our favorite cookies), and now she wants to wear them with everything. She says they’re super comfortable (they have cotton lining), so how can I disagree if she wants to wear them with a hot pink Nike outfit? LOL
4. Set them up with the right tools for success. Penelope is only almost 5, so she’s not going to remember to unpack her school bag, give me forms to sign, or tell me if she needs something like a fidget gadget to help when she’s feeling “fidgety.” So I check the bags each day when she gets home and makes sure she has the tools for big emotions. We recently discovered these WowWee Fashion Fidget Dolls and while she loved opening them to see which of the 18 dolls she discovered, they help her with big emotions and let’s be honest, have something “to do” in the car. We’re big fans and I see more of these as stocking stuffers this holiday season!
5. Leave them with a positive word. I know that tensions run high in the morning and nerves are tested, but ending on a positive note can do wonders for your kiddos day. Make sure that despite what kind of morning you both are having to send them off on a positive note and word. “Have a great day, I love you,” does wonders, test it out, you’ll see.
And off you go sweet friends. I hope your kiddos are doing amazing and you’re enjoying the peace and quiet (but mostly that you’re enjoying your coffee still hot!).
