We’ve had quite the week in our household, Ill share more why later this week, but it’s been a stressful one. Part of the reason is Aaron began nights Sunday evening. Although he’s been on nights numerous times throughout residency (and has many more nights to go), it never gets easier. Moving back and forth and back and forth between days and nights is difficult. Our house always seems in a state of disarray and we hardly see each other for more than 45 minutes a day. Today, I thought I’d share some items that I use to reduce stress or to take time for myself on those busy days.
1. Get Enough Sleep: Apart from an occasional mid week glass of wine, the above items just scream relaxation to me. They say that stress can often stem from lack of sleep. With the eye mask, adorable PJ Salvage PJs and some decadent sheets, I am wishing I was currently in bed instead of writing this before work. Sleep is vital to feeling less stressed, less hungry and overall less grumpy. No one likes a grumpy gus!
2. Get Moving: I often will go for a short run or to the gym if I’m feeling overwhelmed. It’s amazing how getting your heart pumping can help. I also think it gives your brain time to decompress and think through your stresses.
3. Do something for yourself: If feeling less than yourself, take that time back to reconnect with yourself. Sometimes I write in a journal, paint my nails or even read a book. These are all things I rarely have time for, so when I’m feeling overwhelmed, I make them a priority.
4. Create a Home Spa: One word: bubble baths, robes, candles and dim lighting. I use Philosophy face wash, bubble bath and also shower gel. It’s amazing. Put a robe on and treat yo’ self.

5. Vitamins and Natural Remedies: Another thing I do is try to relax myself. I start with All Natural RESCUE pearls that are a Homeopathic alternative for stress relief. These little gems keep you calm, collected and are non habit forming. If Im having a bad day, I pop a pearl and proceed to do something else in the above list.
Regardless, stress is a hard thing to deal with, but you should try to suppress it. My friend used to say worrying was like a rocking chair, you can rock all day- but it never goes anywhere. Silly, but true. Sometimes my above products/tips don’t work 100%, but I lately I am at least trying to make a conscious effort to de-stress my life and my self- in the meantime, I try to use a wrinkle cream! 🙂

Sleep is my biggest destresser. If I don't get at least 6 hours I am a ball of nerves.

Working out or going for a run is the hardest thing in the world for me to do when I'm stressed, but I am always so grateful afterwards!

The Coconut Frosting shower gel sounds divine! I would definitely add wine and a cheese/fruit platter to this list;)
