Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins

A Resolution or 10

January 9, 2013

Howdy all. I realize it’s Wednesday and I have yet to post any wedding pictures, I am trying to edit some of them and promise to have some up on Friday. I don’t want to show too many because although my friends pictures were pretty amazing, I still wont get the photographer’s shots for another 4 weeks or so. So, until Friday, you get me and only me, no big white dress. πŸ™‚

The second thing I realize it that it’s January 9th already (really, where is the time going?). I should have already been delving into my resolutions, but to be honest, I didn’t make any when the clock struck midnight, I was too exhausted. This year, I want to actually make resolutions that I can keep, so that way next December I’m not feeling like a total oaf that I didn’t lose half my body weight or write the next amazing best seller. Yes, I want to work out more and be healthier, but who doesn’t?

Here are some of the things I am hoping to do fabulously this year:

1. Take more fashion risks, some may work…others well..bare with me folks.
2. Try new recipes and lots of them. We got two Barefoot Contessa Cookbooks over the holidays/wedding and I am already in love.
3. Take Bella for more walks.
4. Sit on the sofa with my husband and do absolutely nothing, no multi tasking, no blogging, just me+him talking and maybe some TV.
5. Redecorate and experiment with color (we will be moving in June so Ill be forced to do this).
6. Call my friends/family more, not because I have something to ask, but because its nice to hear their voices.
7. Learn to bake, this might be on 2014’s resolution list too if I can’t improve my skills drastically.
8. Host a dinner party
9. Plan one or two fun weekend getaways!
10. Stop to take it all in more. It’s not perfect- its life, but its beautiful.

What are your New Year’s resolutions? How do you make yourself accountable for keeping them?

I love all of these – especially the do nothing and sit on the couch with your husband. I think all too often we let life get in the way and need to stop and take note of our loved ones. Same goes for the phone calls that is one of mine too. All too often I'm busy and my friends call me, or my father calls me. Meanwhile they are the ones with kids, not me. They have a WAY busier life than I do.

My resolution is one simple thing Do MORE with LESS.

I can't wait to see all your fashion risks πŸ™‚

I'm so excited to see wedding photos! Love your resolutions which are very do-able. I need to work on calling friends and family more often too…I often get so busy and wrapped up in my own life that I forget to take the time out for them.

My man and I have made a similar resolution to just have times where there is nothing else going on but us. No phones, no social media updates, just us and a board game! Accountability comes from sharing your goals like you have with your readers or someone else and then documenting progress in some way. So thanks for sharing!! πŸ™‚

The best way to keep accountable is to let others now what you are trying to do or not do…great list! I may need to adopt some of them as my own.

Great resolutions! We didn't get our wedding photos for 8 weeks after the wedding. It is so painful waiting..but SO worth it when you finally receive them! It is also nice to relive the day after a month or two. You don't realize how much you forget about your wedding day until you see the photos!
