…creative ways to ask BM’s to be in your wedding!
When that guy Im going to marry proposed to me (Ill share that story sometime), one of the first things I did besides keep staring at my finger, was brainstorm a cute little way to ask my friends to be in my wedding. Since then, I have seen so many cute things swimming around the Internet about asking people to join in on the festivities. So today, I am using Friday’s Top Five to share some unique ways to ask those special ladies! *These are in no special order.
#1. “Pop the Question to your maids”
“You can wear a ring around your finger, ring pop! It’s a juicy jewel of flavor..” Anyone remember that commercial? Just me? Okay… Anyway, I saw tons of ideas about putting the candy ring (or just any plastic ring) in a box and popping the question to a BM instead of just asking.

I don’t think getting down on one knee is necessary, but I do like rings+candy so its a winner in my book. Do I like ring pops as much as this girl?
image: google |
UM NO! Keep in in the box or packaging ladies- not on the back of your neck!
Supplies: Small boxes and ring pops. Price: $4-6 per girl.
#2. Give ’em a memory
Create a small photo collage or a little scrap book for them. If money is tight, find a cheap photo frame and put a photo of you and her in it with a small note asking her to join you on your big day for photos.
Supplies: scrap booking stuff or picture frames. Price: appx. $5-?
#3. Wine and Dine Them
Not the creative kind? No problem. Assuming you can get together with each girl (or all of them at once), take her out for a dinner. Budget option? Treat her to coffee and ask her in person. Although its not the most creative, she will appreciate the gesture and it gives you a chance to catch up on life!
Supplies: place for dinner, dessert or coffee. Price: depends on what you want to spend, just make sure you treat her!

#4. Create a little poem with accessory
Write a little poem for them to go along with something, wine, coffee, tea etc. Another cute idea along these lines was creating a MadLib for them. You would write it in and fill in their answers (adjectives, nouns, verbs, etc) and then read it back to them at the end.
Supplies: pen, paper, beverage. Price: poem or ML free, beverage $5-15

#5. Write it like you mean it.
Strapped for cash? We’ve all been there. I 110% think writing each girl a heartfelt note with the ask is completely acceptable. These are your best girlfriends, they wont be expecting anything but the question, so write it down the way it feels and present her with a simple card asking her to be a part of your special day.
****
Do I think doing some special is necessary? No way. Some people are SO TOTALLY STOKED they just ask over the phone. My fiance texted his GM in a conversation that probably went something like this:
Fiance: “Hey bro, wanna stand with me when I get married 12/29/12?”
GM: “Yea dude, I need to be there when you can’t break the wine glass in the napkin so I can laugh my ass off”
Okay, that might not have been it exactly but I’m assuming it was close. So no, don’t go out and spend one-mellion dollars on “Will you be a BM gifts,” just try to make them feel special in someway throughout the process. These ladies are spending lots of dolla dolla bills (ya’ll) to be a part of your big day, so making sure they are appreciated is always a nice gesture.
Being the over-achiever that I am (but mostly because Im indecisive and couldn’t just pick one idea), my girls each got a little bag with some goodies and little notes. I got them each a bag and wrote a little note of instructions on the front. They were to open gifts in order (1,2,3).
Their little BM bags. |
The first gift they pulled were headbands with the note: “Please help me keep my head on straight while planning for our wedding on 12/29/12.
Gift 2 was a small notebook with a personal message on each cover. The tag to the notebook said: “Please take NOTE, I may be a bridezilla at times, but I promise to try and roll with the tide (or something like that at least).”
Lastly, Gift 3 was a ring pop that had the tag: “Will you? Please say I do!”
What do you think about gifts for the “Ask?” Cute or a waste of $$? Did you ask your BM’s in any special way or do you plan to?

Oh my gosh, that is seriously the cutest way of asking someone to be your bridesmaid! I love the ring pop idea so much. Okay, whenever I get married, IF I get married (one day?? haha) I'm going to do that. Adorable!

I do like the idea of giving something for the ask! I can totally see myself doing something like number 4. Short and simple but still takes a bit of thought =)
