Where are you from?
I am originally from a small town outside of Cincinnati. Between attending undergrad in Oxford (Miami University), graduate school in Athens (Ohio University) and living in Columbus and Akron – I have pretty much lived all over the state of Ohio! When my husband matched for his medical residency in Neurology at Duke Medical Center, we bid the Midwest goodbye and moved South to Durham, North Carolina. It is the first time in my life I’ve ever lived anywhere else other than good ole’ O-H-I-O. We absolutely love this area and are so thankful for this opportunity!
How long have you been a style blogger?
I started Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins in 2012 as a fun side hobby. I never dreamed I’d have the opportunity to work with so many incredible brands and make this into a side business.
Do you blog full time?
I do not. I work in Corporate Communications by day and am a style blogger in the evenings and weekends. Sometimes it is a little overwhelming to work and blog full time, but you make time for what you love and blogging brings me so much joy. Luckily, my husband is very supportive when it comes to me juggling both.
Who takes your photos?
I have been lucky to make some blogger friends in the area that are always happy to help a fellow blogger out. I often blog with Lauren, but sometimes in a pinch I’ll hire someone if I have a post due or need to stockpile. Also, when my husband isn’t working, he is my go to guy. 🙂
What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Cannon 7D with a 50mm lens/1.4 Lens. I recently upgraded and I absolutely love it, although I am still learning how to use it. I’m hoping to add this lens soon for home decor posts.
Do you have any tips for a new style blogger?
Blogging is such a progression. My blog has changed so much in the last five years, and I’m confident it will be a little different in the next four years. It is always evolving and I am always asking myself what works best for my readers and is still authentic for me. Be organic, Be patient and Be kind. Not just in blogging, but in life- those three things get you so far.
