Since we moved into our house back in April, I’ve slowly been sharing bits and pieces here and there. Here I shared our living room post and offered a “To-Do” List for it. I also shared my girly office space here. Today, I thought I would share our foyer area with y’all.
When we moved in, this area was an unfortunate yellowish color. However, adding a bit of greige (gray and beige) paint and some fun stripes with the help of two of my girlfriends, it really brightened up the space! We basically used all pieces we already had in this area and while I’m hoping to get a new table in there eventually, I am fairly happy with the way it turned out so far. We have a half bathroom off this little area and a coat closet behind the stairs, but I still wanted some immediate storage space when we come in through the front door. Enter the small little basket for shoes and Bella’s toys and also the coat rack which was mine from high school that we simply spray painted to change from oak to oil rubbed bronze. Also in this room, I painted our builder grade banister a black finish to match our front door (it was oak before) and I really think it makes it pop against the striped wall and the white spindles. My biggest challenge? Getting the stair decor hung correctly! That was a tough one which required tons of patching of little holes! ๐ Sorry the photo of that is sideways, it’s the only way I could get it all!
Just as I shared my “To-Do” for the other rooms, here is what I’d like to do in our entry way:
- Get bulkier entry table with storage- something in a fun color.
- Find a way to hide alarm system?
- Get rug mat to keep rug down (this is easy)
- Figure out how to keep palm alive…..or anything plant wise…
- Get gold frame for table wedding photo instead of white
- Re-do chalk board quote
- Fun lamp shade?
Of course, I would love to add hardwood floor the stairs and a few other $$ things, but since this is just a temporary home for us until Aaron finishes residency, it wouldn’t make sense to make that kind of investment for only 4 years. I’m trying to make this a home without going overboard! It’s hard!
Most of the items for this room were purchased at HomeGoods or Target. I have linked some similar items, but if you see something particular and want to know where I found it, just leave a message in the comments and Ill respond.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope y’all have an amazing fall weekend!

Look great and I love the striped wall! Completely makes sense about not investing too much $$ in a temp. house:) Quick suggestion,, if I may.. I tape all my electrical cords to the back legs of my tables so you can't see the cord a' dangling:) Or I Paint the cord the same color as the wall, tape it again to the back leg, and the part you do seeing going into the outlet matches the wall=disappears! Have a great weekend!

Beautiful space! I always the having white trim or white wainscoting with a gray of beige. The color combo makes the simplest spaces look elegant.

What a gorgeous Foyer! I love the black banister. My Mother always says to add black to any room fixtures (doors, banisters, window trim)to make it look custom. I personally always favored historic row houses, so we've never had a foyer, the door opens right into the living room. Then we also have two kids, two dogs, and two cats, so there's so much..STUFF. I have an DIY'd storage dresser with wicker baskets to help corral it, but I dream of elegance like this one day.
